New treatment option for Clinical Stage IV HPV-Mediated (p16-Positive) Oropharyngeal Carcinoma...
Official title Lovastatin and Pembrolizumab for the Treatment of Patients With Recurrent or Metastatic Head and Neck Cancer, LAPP Trial
ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT06636734
What this study is testing
What is Lovastatin?
Lovastatin is an investigational medicine, given as an once-daily infusion into a vein, being studied as a potential treatment for clinical stage iv hpv-mediated (p16-positive) oropharyngeal carcinoma ajcc v8.
Also referred to as Lovastatin Sodium, Mevacor.
Plain-language explanation of the investigational treatment - it is being studied and is not an approved or proven therapy. The study team can confirm the details.
- What it's testing
- This phase II trial tests how well lovastatin and pembrolizumab work in treating patients with head and neck cancer that has come back after a period of improvement (recurrent) or that has spread from where it first started (primary site) to other places in the body (metastatic). Lovastatin is a drug used to lower the amount of cholesterol in the blood and may also cause tumor cell death.
- Phase 2: a mid-size study of how well it works
- Time commitment: about 2 years
