Recruiting PHASE1, PHASE2 Locally Advanced Colorectal Carcinoma

New treatment option for Locally Advanced Colorectal Carcinoma

Official title Fluorescence Image Guided Surgery Followed by Intraoperative Photodynamic Therapy for Improving Local Tumor Control in Patients With Locally Advanced or Recurrent Colorectal Cancer

ClinicalTrials.gov ID: NCT06307548

What this study is testing

What is Aminolevulinic Acid?

Aminolevulinic Acid is an investigational medicine, given as a pill taken by mouth, being studied as a potential treatment for locally advanced colorectal carcinoma.

Also referred to as 5-ALA, 5-Aminolaevulinic Acid.

Plain-language explanation of the investigational treatment - it is being studied and is not an approved or proven therapy. The study team can confirm the details.

What it's testing
\ As of June 2026- Phase I has been completed and we are now in Phase II. This phase I/II trial studies the side effects and how well fluorescence image guided surgery followed by intraoperative photodynamic therapy for improving local tumor control in patients with colorectal cancer that has spread to nearby tissue or lymph nodes (locally advanced) or that has come back after a period of improvement (recurrent).
  • Phase 2: a mid-size study of how well it works
