- Psychological distress (PD) as a result of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is prevalent and associated with worse disease-related outcomes. IBD-associated psychological distress (IBD-PD) is particularly common at initial diagnosis, during disease flares, before surgery, and during transitions of care.
