- Planned primary total knee replacement
- Planned neuraxial anesthesia
- Written informed consent

- Urgent surgery
- Planned revision total knee replacement
- Known allergic reaction to anesthetics
- Confirmed localized infection at the puncture sites
- Confirmed localized tumor at the puncture sites
- Peripheral neuropathy of the lower extremities
