- Purpose:Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) continues tobe a major cause of blindness in children. Although ablation of the retina with laser or cryotherapy reduces the incidence of blindness by suppressing the neovascular phase of ROP the visual outcomes after treatment are often poor.
